Informal Recruitment

FAQs

What is COB?

Continuous Open Bidding (COB) is an informal Recruitment process used during periods outside of formal Recruitment to allow chapters to welcome new members!

How does the COB process work?

Every chapter may conduct their COB process differently, but a great first step is to check a chapter's Instagram page. They may have information on how to set up a COB date with them listed there. If not, DM them directly!

You will likely meet with a few current members in an informal setting to get to know the members, and to give them an opportunity to know you.

Chapter's will provide you with any next steps that may be applicable.

Am I eligible for COB?

  • You have completed at least one full semester (12 credits) at GW or another institution and are currently a full time student (12 credits or more)
  • You have not previously been initiated into a Panhellenic chapter
  • You are not bound to a Membership Recruitment Acceptance Binding Agreement (MRABA) or a COB Membership Acceptance Binding Agreement within the last Primary Recruitment cycle or at another university

If you meet these criteria, you are eligible for COB! Individual chapters have GPA requirements for membership beyond these requirements.

When does the COB process start and end?

In Fall of 2026, COB will start on the first day of classes, August 24th, and will continue until chapters have reached their total, or until the last day of the semester, December 8th.

In the Spring of 2027, COB will begin on Bid Day, January 10th, and will end when chapters have reached total or until the last day of the semester, April 27th.
