What is IAS Programming?
The International Affairs Society (IAS) hosts numerous professional and social events throughout the academic year.
Our events are tailored towards building a community among IAS members while also providing members opportunities to grow professionally and academically.
What Kind of Events?
The IAS hosts two primary types of event: Social and Professional.
Social events have included mocktails, visits to the National Mall, and attending Washington Nationals Games and more! Attending these events are a great way to meet new and existing members and explore DC with a fun and dynamic group of people
Our professional events are geared towards providing professional and academic opportunities to our members, leveraging our organizations wide area of expertise and connections in DC.
In the past, the IAS has hosted professors, policy partitioners, former ambassadors, and other subject matter experts to speak on critical topics in international affairs. We also regularly bring groups to visit DC think tanks and embassies, including the EU Delegation to the US, the Austrian and Finnish Embassies!
How can I get involved?
Every fall, the Director of Programming recruits members for the Programming Board to plan and execute all of the events of the year. Spots are open for Junior Programming Coordinators and Programming Coordinators based on being a member of the IAS. Coordinators have the opportunity to develop and run their own event from the ground up, gaining transferable skills for internships and other professional opportunities!
The application to Programming Committee will open in August.
