GW Beach Volleyball Club addresses a clear gap at GW: there is no organized outlet for beach volleyball, a sport that is fundamentally distinct from indoor volleyball in its 2v2 format, outdoor sand play, and unique rules and skill set. This need was identified through direct conversations with students who wanted to play but had nowhere to do it. This interest is further evidenced by the fact that Lincoln Courts, a sand volleyball field, already exists nearby campus and is full every weekend without a student organization providing structure and activating it. The popularity of beach volleyball across DC, where recreational leagues and courts are widespread, reflects strong existing demand among young adults in this community. By forming this Club, GW students gain a welcoming, no-tryout, co-ed, athletic community which connects GW to the broader DC beach volleyball scene through interclub and eventually intercollegiate competition, and gives students a consistent outdoor community to be part of outside the classroom.

Membership Benefits
GW Beach Volleyball Club is a community for anyone who loves the game or just wants to try it. We play beach volleyball, and that means something specific: 2v2 on sand, outdoors at Lincoln Courts, with its own rules, its own skills, and its own culture that's completely different from indoor club volleyball. Whether you've never touched a volleyball or you've been playing for years, you're welcome here. No tryouts, no pressure, just good competition and good people.
We keep things flexible. You don't need to make every practice or every game, show up when you can, have fun, and meet people. Life gets busy and we get that, so there's no expectation that you're at every single session. That said, if you want to go all in, there's plenty of opportunity for that too and we love the people who do.
DC has a legitimate beach volleyball scene and we want GW to have a real presence in it. Whether that's local scrimmages, organized DC games, or eventually traveling to tournaments against other schools, there's a path for you here regardless of how serious you want to take it.
Beyond just playing, we're building something bigger. A tight knit group of people who genuinely enjoy spending time together on and off the sand. This club is new and growing fast, which means there's real room to shape what it becomes. Come for the volleyball, stay for the people. All skill levels, all backgrounds, all welcome. Just bring the energy and we'll handle the rest.

The Reconstructionist Society is a philosophical and political club dedicated to preserving and advancing the ideas of Reconstruction from 1865 to 1877, which built the United States’ multi-racial and equitable democracy.

The Reconstructionist Society is a network of students who believe in the power of revitalizing the historical context of Reconstructionism in the United States and transcending current political philosophies to move progressive governance and social dialogues forward through a collaborative dialectic.

We believe our country experiences what we refer to as the American Cycle. This cycle begins with the founding of institutions on harmful ideology, followed by the abolition of these institutions, then the Reconstruction of institutions and ideological frameworks, and finally the regression or reinstatement of the original deleterious ideology under new institutions. We find that this cycle continues to repeat itself as the country has continuously failed to right its wrongs wholly and permanently.

We believe that through expanding an organized network of individuals who explore the historical context of our country, educate others, and philosophize together to create new ideals and collective goals, the American Cycle can be broken, and progress can begin.
